Happy Midsummer everybody! Have a nicely summerly poem with Celestia, Sun, and Amorphis’ ballad “My Sun” (seewutIdidthar?).

This one’s been waiting a chance to be submitted for a while. Originally it was supposed to open the summer before the Cutie Mark Poems, but getting the thumbnail permission took some time, so CMP was started earlier and this was turned into a celebratory piece for Midsummer. And actually fits it much better than I originally intented.

Here I also wanted to write for once a simpler, short poem with a single chorus. I think it worked! Now I can get lazy and write shorter poems not!

Writing a poem about Celestia was both an easy decision and a difficult task. There weren’t really any angst potential unlike for Luna, and there already exists a wonderful character poem anyway, ~Light-of-Dusk’s “Tribute to Celestia: the First Alicorn Princess”, which I tried to avoid in my own interpretation. Thus the end result is more distant depiction of a moment rather than a character piece, telling almost more about the Sun than its princess.
